I just recently signed up and I just have to say that the pay has significantly dropped from when this article was made, specially for non-US contractors and they are most certainly still lowering their rates. My wife signed up just a few months earlier than me and she’s given a third more than what’s on my contract. Though this is the case, I can still say that the Pros out weighs the Cons. It is just sad to think that I could be earning a bit more if I just signed up earlier.

Hi JL,

Thank you for stopping by! This article was written nearly 2 years ago. In that time, Clara has changed how they operate — a lot. They’ve gone back and forth from hourly to per project and from direct hiring to using Upwork.

Thanks for letting me know they’ve changed things up again. Good luck 🙂

Happily,

Ashlee

You said contractors get paid $11/ hr and some of the best make upwards of $15/ hr, but Clara doesn’t even pay by the hour, it pays by the job.

I am within the US, as are many others that work for Clara. If you are looking for a “get rich from home for doing minimal work” job, this is not for you. You must pay close attention to what you are doing and take time to learn protocol to be efficient and successful. The support available with clara is wonderful, they are great with answering any questions or concerns that you may have. So far, this has been a big blessing for my family as I am able to continue to stay home with my son and still have an income. No, I don’t make tons of money doing this, but I also and still learning, and it still helps us a bunch.

Got through all of the interview steps just fine, they were ready to hire…then said they could not hire someone from Colorado because of state regulations. They then said that if they “expand to other states”, they would let me know.

The notion of being able to work from anywhere seems to be false, but I definitely didn’t see any stipulation on their application site, nor did I know about it until I was basically hired lol. So that sucked.
