Would anyone hire me without any office experience? I do have a bachelors degree in linguistics. But every medical transcriptionist job I perused this morning requires experience.

Hi Trina,

Great question! The program I share in this article is for US residents only. Every country has its own requirements for medical billing and coding. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar hiring regulations outside the US.

Happily,

Ashlee

Is the online medical transcriptionist jobs and career step course applicable for other countries or only for USA?

Hi Dawn,

You might not need to go through training in order to get hired as a medical typist, given your background and experience. However, A LOT has changed in the world of medical transcription and editing over the last few years. It might be worthwhile to look into training to get up to speed and learn the latest programs that most hospitals, doctors offices, and clinics use.

Happily,

Ashlee

I’ve been working front desk in medical for over 25 years. Will that help me gain employment quicker with companies with me having that experience?

Thank you,

Amanda

Hi Julie,

Great question. It depends on the company. With your experience, you should be able to gain remote employment. However, I do know some companies will require certification or experience with editing transcripts. It’s my understanding that a lot of medical typists work with speech-to-text transcripts to edit and proofread them for accuracy. This is where training may be helpful.

Best of luck!

Happily,

Ashlee
