Hi Kasey,

I get it! My little one is on the autism spectrum. It became clear pretty early on that his schedule and needs were the priority everything else, including work, were second. That’s why I took up freelancing. I started out writing, editing, proofreading, transcribing, and virtual assisting. Basically, I was piecing together a living online one gig at a time. It was A LOT of work, I won’t lie, but it was worth it. Eventually, I built my writing clientele up enough that it was my main job. If you have the will to do it, you too can find a profitable freelance skill and use it to earn an income – on your own terms 🙂

Happily,

Ashlee

My son is special needs and I can’t seem to keep a job because I’m always having to go get him and deal with him.. If i could be at home with him it would be great on both of us.. I really need some help..

Hi Tiffany,

Thanks for stopping by! Data entry work is one of the most sought after work-from-home jobs out there. However, the number of actual data entry jobs available are few and far between. And, those that do exist are often for very low pay (I’m talking a couple bucks an hour).

With your hands as full as they are, you might want to try your hand at freelancing. Virtual assistant and transcription are great for beginners. Writing is also a great way to earn a living from home, working a schedule you choose. I’ve used all three options to support myself and my son as a single mom. If I can do it, so can you 🙂

Best of luck to you!

Happily,

Ashlee

I read your blog post and thoroughly enjoyed reading about the many jobs. I wanted to ask a question if I may? I am a pregnant single mom and have been looking for work for about 6 months now. I really want remote work but it seems so difficult to find. I am a student trying to get my degree and my ex fiancé and I split right after Christmas. I am currently 8 months pregnant and I have three other children. I know I know busy but I am determined to find even data entry at home bc I’ll have a new born and a two year old.
I am on flex jobs and I keep searching Linked In and everything. How do people go about getting an actual data entry job? I mean in my past career experiences I have done administrative assistant and title work. I have also done billing and coding but you need a degree for that now.
I’m scared, lost and worried and I need to move the end of June so I’m trying to get things in order and it seems almost not doable but I know it is.
Thanks for listening,
Tiffany
