WFH Jobs – what are they? WFH is an acronym that stands for “work from home.” So, WFH jobs (aka work from home jobs) are those which can be done remotely!
And, there are quite a lot of options to choose from. In fact, approximately 6 out of every 10 US workers says their jobs can be done from home. That amounts to roughly 4.7 million Americans who work remotely at least half of the time.
So, what are these millions of workers doing? And, more importantly, how can you become one of them? Good questions.
First, let’s look at work from home options.

The Rise of WFH Jobs 📈
Today, there are more options to work remotely than ever before. Even traditional office or in-person industries like hospitality, travel, retail, education, and health care have seen a sharp rise in remote work.

In other words, the majority of remote workers have a job in one of these industries. So, it’s a good idea to check them out when looking for remote work.
But, where should you look for remote work?
Where to Search for WFH Jobs 🔎
Next, let’s go over where to look for job leads. For starters, I always recommend remote job boards. Why? They save you time and effort. That’s because remote job boards are built specifically for wfh jobs. In other words, you don’t have to spend time sifting through in-person jobs like you would on major job sites like Monster, Indeed, or Career Builder.
Top Remote Job Sites
There are a lot of remote job boards. But hands down my three favorites are:
FlexJobs
FlexJobs is a membership site. First, you sign up for an account and select a subscription (monthly, quarterly, yearly). Then you gain instant access to thousands of screened remote jobs. I love FlexJobs because all wfh jobs are guaranteed legit so you never have to worry about scams.
Remotive
Remotive focuses on wfh jobs from tech companies. However, not all jobs listed are tech related. For example, Remotive offers leads in popular categories like Sales, Design, Marketing, Writing, and more. It’s free to search for and apply to jobs on Remotive. And, like FlexJobs, all jobs are verified before they’re posted!
Jobspresso
Another hand-picked remote job board is Jobspresso. Here you can browse 1,000+ listings for free. Plus, Jobspresso has an active presence on Twitter and Facebook, so you can discover real remote jobs on social media too! Lastly, Jobspresso allows job seekers to post resumes so potential employers can come to you.
Between FlexJobs, Remotive, and Jobspresso there are literally thousands of hand-screened, i.e., scam-free, wfh jobs. In other words, plenty of leads to explore and apply to as you start a remote job search. I recommend sticking to these three because they all verify jobs so you can apply with confidence.
If you do expand your search to other remote job boards be careful! Remember, most sites do not screen leads so you must be mindful of WFH scams!
Other Remote Job Sources
Technically, LinkedIn is a networking site. However, many professionals job search here too. That includes remote job seekers! In fact, LinkedIn has a “remote only” feature which allows you to specify you’re interested only in remote job openings. Additionally, you can enable “open candidate” that tells recruiters you’re actively looking for a new job. These two features combined really help to simplify your job search.
Company Websites
It’s always a good idea to create a “target company list.” This is a list of companies you would love to work at – remotely, of course. First, research remote-friendly companies. Then, jot down 10-20 that interest you. A company could land on your list because of its industry, products, mission statement, etc. Finally, navigate directly to these companies careers or hiring page. Hint: Scroll to the footer and look for a link there. Often, remote-friendly companies don’t advertise openings on job boards. Instead, they share jobs on their website and/or social channels. That way they aren’t bombarded with hundreds or thousands of applicants.
Staffing Agencies
Lastly, consider remote staffing agencies. A staffing agency places job seekers in open roles at various companies. Although many have remote openings to fill, keep in mind that jobs may be part-time, contract, temporary, or seasonal.
Where NOT to Look for WFH Jobs
Avoid job searching on Facebook, Indeed, and/or Craigslist. Although all these sites absolutely have legit wfh jobs – they’re also riddled with scams. In fact, Facebook warns job seekers about common employment scams that specifically target remote workers.
Additionally, plenty of multi-level marketing (MLM) reps recruit job seekers on these sites. They promise real work from home for a fee but often deliver anything of value.
In fact, 99% of MLM participants lose money, according to the FTC. In other words, stay away from “business opportunities” disguised as direct sales or multi-level marketing. Yes, you can work from home but, no, it’s not real remote work.
WFH Jobs & Happiness 🥰
Finally, I want to talk about the happiness factor of remote work. Research shows us that remote workers are generally happier workers. But, that doesn’t mean everyone who work from home is universally happy. And, you shouldn’t settle for any ol’ remote job for the sake of working from home.
Instead, commit to finding a remote job you’ll love. And for many, meaningful remote work starts with the company you work for.
Consider this: A whopping 50% of workers dislike their jobs.
And, it’s not because of what they do or the work itself, i.e., customer service, sales, data entry, etc.
Instead, dissatisfaction comes from the top in the form of poor communication, lack of appreciation, unfair pay, bad bosses, and little room for advancement.
Clearly, the company you work for plays a BIG role in just how happy you are at work. And, considering you spend nearly 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime, it’s pretty important to be happy there, don’t ya think?
So, be strategic in your job search. Seek out companies that have fair wages, support workers, show appreciation, and promote work-life balance. The right company can make all the different in your work from home happiness.
