This Boldly Review has been a long time coming. Over the years, I’ve received a lot of questions about remote jobs at Boldly — a “premium subscription staffing company” founded in 2012. Remote job seekers are eager to learn more about this remote-friendly company that provides flexible employee positions with benefits.
So, to answer all of your questions (and more) I recently sat down with Devin, Recruitment Manager at Boldly, for a chat. We talked about available jobs, what it’s like to work there, and why you should apply. Spoiler Alert: There are a ton of great reasons to join the Boldly team!

What remote positions does Boldly hire for?
Boldly is very unique in that we offer part-time, flexible, remote W2 positions with benefits. We are currently recruiting for Executive Assistants, Marketing and Social Media Specialists, and Legal Assistants.
Does Boldly hire remote workers from anywhere? If not, which states do you hire in?
We’re currently hiring in the following 25 States, as well as the United Kingdom: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
Why don’t you hire in every state?
Because Boldly hires our team members as W2 employees (not contractors) we have to register in each state we hire in. The registration process is complex and costly, so while we are always in the process of adding new states, the states listed are the only states we’re currently registered to hire in. (Active duty military spouses may elect to use either their domicile address or their current residence as long as one of them is in a state that we are hiring.)
Is this a digital nomad position?
This is not a digital nomad position. While we encourage work life balance and flexibility, our positions work best for people who have a level of stability and consistency in their availability and location. You can, however, work from a different location periodically if you want to take an extended trip and work instead of using PTO.
Do you respond to all applicants?
We respond to all applicants within 21 days of submitting your application to let you know whether or not you’ll move forward to the interview stage. However, due to the sheer volume of applications we receive we are unable to provide individual feedback. If you are not selected to move forward it is likely that you do not meet one or more of the qualifications such as experience, availability, etc.
What is the application process like? How long does it take? Can I reapply if I’m rejected?
If selected to move forward our process entails a short skills test, 3 interviews, and background and reference checks. Interviews are conducted via Zoom and the entire hiring process takes approximately 3-4 weeks. While we receive a lot of applications, we have a waiting list of clients and an ongoing need to fill our positions. If you are not selected to move forward, you are welcome to apply at a later date.
What are the skills and minimum experience you look for in an ideal candidate? What attributes or soft skills does someone need to be truly successful as a Boldly Assistant?
We are looking for individuals who share our company values and have 7 or more years of experience in the role for which they are applying. Some of the skills we look for are outstanding communication and strong writing skills, highly organized and proactive, and excellent time management.
What are the biggest challenges Boldly Assistants face? Is training provided?
The biggest challenge our assistants face is learning to work remotely and implementing a structure to their day that allows them to be flexible. This is slightly counter intuitive so we support our team in thinking through how to build a schedule that works best for them.
While we expect our employees to be trained in their area of expertise, we’ll provide this additional paid training in how to work remotely and best practices to succeed working with multiple companies in a remote environment.
Once you get started, you’ll benefit from working with your Team Leader which includes ongoing training and learning opportunities to help you succeed. You’ll have annual performance reviews to recap and look forward to new opportunities.
How many hours do Boldly Assistants work? What kind of benefits are there?
Our team works an average of 20-25 hours per week. Positions start at part-time with the opportunity to become full-time in due course based on performance.
As a part-time employee you will receive paid time off and paid holidays, and as a full-time employee you will also receive medical benefits and life insurance coverage.
What does a typical day look like for a Boldly Assistant?
All of our jobs are fully remote and W2 employee positions, not contract. When you are employed by Boldly you are part of our team and work to support Boldly clients.
Our team manages their own schedules and client workload with the freedom and flexibility to create schedules that work for them and accommodate work life balance.
Many of our team members are working moms and typically start their day in the morning.
When we asked Shanna for a breakdown on how she manages her day, she shared that she works for her clients from 8am – 12pm and again from 1pm – 2:30pm. She created her schedule with built-in flexibility to take a lunch break, run errands, and dedicate time for what she refers to as ‘straight mom-mode’.
How do Boldly Assistants work with clients?
While all of our team members work directly and communicate directly with the Boldly clients they support, they also have the supportive Boldly team behind them with lots of communication, team shares, games and prizes, charity events, celebrations, and fun company swag!
We foster long term relationships with both our team and clients. On average, our team supports their clients for 2-3 years. Most of our team members have 2-4 clients, this number depends on many factors including the team member’s availability and the amount of hours the client is subscribed to.
How much do Boldly Assistants earn? Are there advancement opportunities?
Our team earns between $20-$22 an hour depending on skills, experience, and seniority. All of our team members start at $20 an hour.
What kind of support is available to assistants? How do assistants stay in touch with clients?
Our assistants all have a Team Leader who provides supervision and mentorship. Our team leaders are always available for questions and to meet. We also work closely as a team, supporting each other, so even though we all work from different places, you’ll meet team members as you share client projects or as you provide vacation back up for each other.
Boldly assistants stay in touch with their Team Leader and the rest of the team via Slack, Zoom and Email. For client communication, this depends on the individual client and what systems and process they have set up for their business. Most use email and Zoom, but some use Microsoft Teams, Slack, Skype, etc.
What makes Boldly a great place to work at?
Boldly is an employee focused company, and we foster long-term partnerships, open communication, and transparency with our team. We have a “virtual” open door policy, which means that everyone has access to our managers and leadership team, and is encouraged to speak up, and connect with them directly, no matter what the issue. We believe that everyone deserves to enjoy a rewarding and fulfilling career, and like you we want to work with kind, friendly, positive people who go to great lengths to support each other, and make it a pleasure to work together!
