College Student Jobs Online
With the new school year almost upon us, it’s as good a time as ever to visit some ideas for College Student Jobs Online. Virtual work options are particularly appealing to college students. They need the flexibility remote jobs offer in order to work around their class schedule, studying time, and any extracurricular activities.
So whether you’re looking for College Student Jobs Online to have a little extra pocket money or need something to help you pay your way, there are several legitimate and super-flexible options for you.
When I was in college, I waited tables. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. The money was okay, but the hours were terrible and the flexibility was almost non-existent. If I had to do it all over again I would, but given the availability of more flexible job options for college students, I would probably look for College Student Jobs Online, too.
Tutor
While you’re in school, you’re already in the learning mindset. Why not use that to your advantage and teach others? The good news is, there are several College Student Jobs Online for tutoring positions. Tutor.com, for example, has an entire informational section devoted to interested college students. Their services are offered 24/7 which means they are super-flexible when it comes to scheduling.
So if you’re a night owl or early bird, you can set a tutoring schedule that suits your personality and works around your school commitments.
Tutor.com
We know your studies are your top priority. That’s why our flexible, part-time hours are a great fit for college students. Our service is available 24/7 and you can set a tutoring schedule that works best for you. Plus, all of our tutoring sessions are online, so you can work from your home, dorm or your favorite spot with high-speed internet access.
InstaEDU
After you sign up with Facebook Connect, we’ll confirm your school, learn about your areas of expertise, and get to know a little about you and your teaching ability. Students will be able to view your profile and message you to set up lessons. InstaEDU will also send you immediate lesson opportunities via chat. You’ll make $20/hour for the time you spend working with students and get paid seamlessly online.
Virtual Assistant
At first glance, a Virtual Assistant position may not seem like a great idea for College Student Jobs Online. After all, many Virtual Assistant (VA) companies like Red Butler and Worldwide 101, require availability during normal business hours.
However, Fancy Hands, a VA company with a crowd-sourced like approach, is the perfect fit for busy schedules. I’ve worked as a VA for Fancy Hands in the past and certainly would again in the future! The payments were always on time and, for the most part, the nature of the work was enjoyable.
The best part is, clients send in requests at all hours of the day, and I do mean ALL hours of the day. During off-hours, there aren’t always a ton of jobs, but there aren’t a lot of VAs clamoring for the same tasks either. So if you happen to be a night owl and need to make a little extra cash say at three o’clock in the morning, you can log into Fancy Hands, check out the dashboard, and complete tasks.
Each job should only take 15 to 20 minutes to complete and will pay anywhere from $2.50 to $7.00 per task. Keep in mind, tasks can be as easy as “Add this to my Calendar” which will literally take just a minute or two. Other tasks may take longer like, “Please call the DMV and find out how to contest my parking ticket.”
You can take as few or as many tasks as you can handle. Keep in mind, you can only “accept” one task at a time, once you’ve completed that task, you can move onto the next. When I worked there, I found many of the clients to be quite pleasant and realistic in their expectations. There were, on occasion, a difficult client or two, but that is to be expected anytime you work in a service industry.
I’ve known individuals who have used Fancy Hands to earn their equivalent of a full-time wage. These people were in front of the computer 8+ hours a day accepting and completing tasks. I, on the other hand, opted to do it in my spare time. I consistently made about $250.00 per week for approximately six months while I was accepting tasks.
Used as supplemental or part-time income, this is a great College Student Jobs Online opportunity, especially for those students who enjoy administrative-type tasks. Payments are made every two weeks (on Tuesday) via Dwolla.
Fancy Hands
Are you good on the phone and great at internet research? This could be the perfect position for you. This position and this company has huge room for growth. You can define your own hours. Ideally, I want people around 24 hours a day, so if you’ve got time at 4am, great! If you want to work 9-5, perfect!
Writer
You will no doubt have many writing assignments due during your college career. So, why not actually get paid to write something? There are several companies that will hire people to write articles on just about anything you can think of. The best part is, you don’t need to be an experienced writer to find these jobs.
Writing for content websites or “content mills” as they’re often called, is a super-flexible College Student Jobs Online option. In addition to making money, it’s a great resume builder and demonstrates that you have writing ability.
Take Textbroker, for example. They hire writers with no experience and pay you based on your writing level. To get started, you will have to write one sample piece which they will use to assign you a writing level. The higher your level, the more money you make per word.
As far as writing opportunities for beginners, they pay decent. If you make it to level five, you can earn $.05 per word, which translates to about $25.00 per 500-word article–not too shabby!
I’ve known several freelance writers who have come to rely on Textbroker, and similar sites, when there is a lull in their other projects. These sites always have a consistent stream of work at a decent pay rate (some better than others).
Textbroker
At Textbroker, you can choose from thousands of orders every day. Our authors are free to decide how much or little they would like to write. Forget hunting through classified ads, searching for the next client, or waiting for payments. At Textbroker, payment is fast and reliable.
BKA Content
BKA Content frequently has positions available for qualified Internet Article Writers. These positions involve writing high-quality, original article content centered on a variety of different search terms, topics and keywords provided by our clients. The SEO content we produce is used for many different purposes, but it often is used to give clients increased internet exposure through higher search engine rankings on the Web.
Domainite
The rate of pay is $1/100 words and we can provide as much work as you can do daily. You can also select all writing tasks according to your own schedule. This is a great opportunity for starting writers as well as those seeking unlimited available writing work to fill in gaps when you might not have other higher paying writing jobs available.
Usability Testing
This is my favorite College Student Jobs Online option. As a Usability Tester, you will evaluate websites and apps and provide your feedback. That’s it. I’ve found this kind of work to be fun and a great way to make extra money each and every month.
It’s no secret that my favorite usability site is User Testing. They’ve never been late with payments and will even pay you if there happens to be a technical glitch during the testing process. Plus, unlike other Usability Testing Jobs, they don’t require video recording, just audio recording. Website Tests pay $10.00 (for about 15-20 minutes of time) and Mobile Tests pay $15.00 (for about 20 minutes). There are focus group options too that you can qualify for based on your demographics.
As a User Tester, you will visit websites on your computer or mobile device and “think out loud” as you navigate certain tasks. You are expected to give your complete and honest feedback–good or bad! For example, you may be asked to visit Target’s website and search for a gift for your best friend. During this task, you will speak out loud as to what you’re thinking as you complete the task (don’t narrate what you see on the screen or what you’re doing, but rather your thoughts and feelings of the process).
It takes a little bit getting used to speaking your thought processes out loud. But once you do, it is a really fun College Student Jobs Online option. Plus, it is really flexible with tasks available at virtually every hour of the day! Pay for each test varies for other Usability Testing companies, but you can expect to earn between $8.00 and $15.00 per test.
To this day, I still doing usability tests with User Testing. Although I don’t do it nearly as much as I have in the past, I can still make a couple hundred extra dollars each month. Even if you complete just one website test a day (at $10.00) you can make about $300.00 extra a month.
User Testing
Get $10 via paypal for every 20-minute session you complete. UserTesting pays you to visit websites or apps, complete a set of tasks, and speak your thoughts aloud.
YouEye
Online usability studies are an easy way to earn money from home. You’ll be asked to perform an array of tasks such as adding items to a shopping cart or using a new mobile app.
Instructor
Are you a Photoshop Pro? Do you have unparalleled Microsoft Excel skills? Is your ability to create Facebook ad campaigns unsurpassed? Can you cook, play the piano, or draw? If you’ve got any of these skills or other in-demand abilities, you can teach others and get paid to do it.
As far as College Student Jobs Online, this is a great option for individuals with a particular skill and can demonstrate it comfortably to others. And, if you are well-versed in one of many “hot-topic courses,” you can make some really great money!
But how do you use your pre-existing skills to teach others and make money while doing it? Well, you become an Udemy Instructor of course.
Udemy has over 7 million students looking for instruction on anything from math to yoga. So, if you have any skills that you’re absolutely great at and can teach others too, you can earn money as a Udemy Instructor.
To do this, you will need to create a course. Trust me, this is easier than it sounds. Udemy provides you the tools to create a well-thought out and professional course. Most courses are between 1-3 hours and contain at least 60% video. Once you’ve created your course, you can list it for sale at a price you determine (average is about $99.00).
If you market your course or courses and get students to purchase them, you get to keep 100% of your earnings, minus payment processing fees. If Udemy gets students for you, they take 50% of your earnings.
Either way, once a course is completed, you need to market it in order for it to sell. Promoting your course on campus and via social media is a great way to get some students to purchase it. If you create one course, and sell it for $99, you can make nearly $1,000.00 after just ten sales. Of course, the more courses you create, the more money you can make.
Udemy
There is no fee to create and host your courses on Udemy, and you can publish either free or paid courses. Udemy shares in our instructors’ success by operating under a tiered revenue share for paid courses sold. We believe in a sustainable partnership where instructors are rewarded for creating amazing content and bringing students to the platform, and Udemy is rewarded for driving traffic to our instructors.

There are several companies who offer Search Engine Evaluator positions. For the most part these are contract positions with the option to extend a contract if you perform well. When working as an evaluator you may be judging advertisements or website landing pages, it just depends on the project you’re hired for!
This is really flexible work as far as College Student Jobs Online go. Typically, you are expected to work a set number of hours per week and you can complete them whenever you like. The pay rates range between $12.00 and $15.00 an hour. Working hours can also vary between 10 to 30.

Hi I was wondering how you go about doing the user testing on a mobile device? Thank you! Loved the article!
WorkFromHomeHappiness says
Hi Ashley,
Thank you for stopping by! If you sign up with a usability testing company like User Testing, they have both mobile and computer tests you can take. You’ll have to download the User Testing app in order to take these tests. For the most part, they take about 15-20 minutes to complete and pay $10.
Erli Bird and Enroll App are two other companies that have mobile tests you may qualify for.
It’s a good idea to sign up for as many of them as you can to increase your chances of getting tests and actually earning 🙂 Good luck! If you have any questions, please let me know!
Best wishes,
